DAYTON — Hunter Aubrey McLaughlin, 84, of Dayton died Tuesday morning at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W. Va.
Mr. McLaughlin was born April 7, 1894 in Alleghany County and was a son of William H. and Gertrude Pollard McLaughlin. He had lived in Dayton since 1913 and had been a barber there.
He was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church.
On Jan. 14, 1916 he married the former Marjorie McNeal, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Winston W. "Wink" McLaughlin of Miami, Robbie M. Faris of Charlotte, N.C. and Norwood McLaughlin of Front Royal; two brothers, Woodrow D. McLaughlin of Winchester and Clyde McLaughlin of Richmond; two sisters, Fleta Long of Winchester and Carrie Leary of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Dayton United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Bell and the Rev. John L. Hoke. Burial will be in Dayton Cemetery.
The body is at the Linsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Thursday.

GREENVILLE — Mrs. Marjorie McNeal McLaughlin, 92, of Route 2, Greenville, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday (Sept. 7) at Waynesboro Community Hospital.
She was born on May 2, 1898, in the Iron Gate community near Clifton Forge, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Johanna Gibson McNeal.
She later moved to Dayton, where she lived her married life before making her home with her son for the past 25 years.
While living in Dayton, Mrs. McLaughlin operated Wink's Lunch, and her husband operated a barber shop for 54 years.
She was a member of Ladd Presbyterian Church.
On Jan. 15, 1916, she married Hunter Aubrey McLaughlin, who preceded her in death on May 2, 1978.
Surviving are one daughter, Robbie Gill Faris of Matthews, N.C.; one son, Aubrey Norwood McLaughlin of Greenville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A service will be held today at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Linsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Dayton Cemetery.
Her body now rests at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, where the members of the family will receive friends at 3 p.m. before the service.
