Jean L. McLaughlin

DAYTON — A graveside service for Jean L. McLaughlin will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday in Dayton Cemetery by the Rev. Joseph R. Anderson.

Mrs. McLaughlin, 60, a former resident of Harrisonburg, died Monday at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital near Lake Worth, Fla. She had been ill since July.

She was born in Beaver County, Pa., Feb. 10, 1921, and was a daughter of Beth Howe Lowerree, now of Los Angeles, and the late Enos Lowerree.

In 1948, she married W. Winston "Wink" McLaughlin, who survives, and moved to Dayton. Mrs. McLaughlin was a secretary at Merck 17 years.

She moved to Florida in 1965 and had worked at colleges in Key West and Lake Worth. She later lived in Charlotte, N.C., 3 1/2 years and worked for a college there before returning to Florida in July.

The body is at the Linsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, were friends may call. The family has asked that flowers be omitted.

William W. McLaughlin

William Winston "Wink" McLaughlin, 63, died Thursday morning at his sister's home in Matthews, N.C.

Mr. McLaughlin, a former resident of Dayton and Harrisonburg, had been ill for some time.

He was born Sept. 23, 1919, at Dayton and was a son of Marjorie M. McNeal McLaughlin and the late Hunter Aubrey McLaughlin.

He lived his early life in Dayton and later made his home in Harrisonburg and Charlotte, N.C. He then moved to Florida where he managed condominiums and apartments until he retired and returned to Charlotte.

His wife, the former Jean Lowery, died Oct. 11, 1982.

Surviving are his mother, Marjorie M. McLaughlin of Rt. 1, Raphine; a sister, Robbie Gills Faris of Matthews; and a brother, Aubrey Norwood McLaughlin of Raphine.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home by the Rev. Forest Racey. Burial will be in Dayton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, that family asked that contributions be made to the Hospice Unit at P.O. Box 221118, Charlotte, N.C., 28222.
