Death Takes Bessie H. McNeely

Bessie H. McNeely, a retired piano teacher and former high school music teacher, died in a hospital yesterday after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday in the Buterworth chapel. Entombment will be in Acacia.

Miss McNeely was born in Malta Bend, Mo. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Mo.; a bachelor of music degree from Washburn University, Topeka, Kas., and a master of arts degree at Columbia University.

She also did graduate work at the Universities of Kansas, Colorado and Washington.

Miss McNeely taught in public schools in Topeka before she came here in 1909. She taught at various high schools here before she retired in 1946.

After her retirement Miss McNeely taught privately. She had studios in the Paramount Theater Building, 907 Pine St., where she resided.

Miss McNeely was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Order of Eastern Star and the Woman's Country Club. She was an associate member of the Ladies' Musical Club and was a member of Phi Beta, music and speech honorary.

Surviving are a brother, Paul Pierre McNeely, Seattle, and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kirby, Tillicum, Pierce County, and Mrs. Blanche Ragsdale, San Marino, Calif.
