Funeral services were held Sunday, August 2 for William D. McNeely who passed away at the Mooreland hospital July 30. Services were held at Quinlan with Rev. Boldie, officiating. Burial was made in the Elmwood cemetery at Woodward. Knittel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
William Dexter McNeely, son of William and Ruth McNeely was born March 13, 1877 at Malta Bend, Missouri. He spent his boyhood days on a farm near Marshall, Mo. where he attended the elementary, high school and college. Later his father and family moved to Cedarvale, Kansas where they operated a ranch.
He was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Compton, April 2, 1912 in Wichita, Kansas. The same year they moved to a ranch twelve miles north of Quinlan, Oklahoma where they lived until 1932 at which time they moved into Quinlan.
To this union six children were born: Mrs. Fred Calloway of Cherokee, Oklahoma; Neal H. McNeely of Corpus Christi, Texas; William D. McNeely, Jr., of Johnson, Kans.; Miss Bruce McNeely of Bohn, Germany; Mrs. Floyd J. Roedell of Wichita, Kansas; John M. McNeely of Quinlan.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Mrs. Ruth McNeely, his children; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kirby of Cedervale, Kansas; Mrs. Blanch Ragsdale of San Marino, Calif.; and Miss Bess McNeely of Seattle, Washington. Three brothers: C. H. McNeely of San Merino, Calif.; John A. McNeely of Portland, Ore.; Paul P. McNeely of Seattle, Wa. One brother-in-law Edwin Compton of Wichita, Kansas, one nephew and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three sisters.
