Neel Houston McNeely, born June 25, 1918 in Quinlin, Oklahoma passed away on February 22, 2009. Neel entered the Navy during WWII and during this time met his wife, Geneva Marie at NAS Corpus Christi. They were married for almost sixty years until Geneva's passing in 2005. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Sandra Marie and Jacquelyn Sue. Neel moved the family to Pensacola in 1959 to go to work at NAS Pensacola in civil service. In 1965 the family moved to Pace, FL. Neel served God as a member of the Pace United Methodist Church and was active in the church's Mens Club. He was highly regarded for his carpentry skills and willingness to work and help others. His children, grandchildren, personal and church family members will miss him.
Neel (nicknamed "Red" because of his red hair) is survived by his two daughters, Sandy Key and Jacque Cooke; son-in-law, Bill Cooke; brother, John McNeely; three sisters, Jean Calloway, Bruce Bradley, Mary Lou Roedall; three sister-in-laws, Phyllis McNeely, Maxine McNeely, Jenny McCullough; two brother-in-laws, Brad Bradley, Joe Roedell; three grandchildren, Brian Key, Jocelyn Higgins, Branton Cooke; two great-granddaughters, Mattie Higgins, Natalie Key; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral service for Mr. McNeely will be 3:30 PM, Thursday, February 26, 2009, graveside at Memory Park Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 PM, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.
