William David Norwood

WILLIAM DAVID NORWOOD, son of DOROTHY PAULINE SWARBRICK and OSCAR GUY NORWOOD, was born in 1925, and died December 19, 1944 in Peti-Boerching, France.²⁴⁸² He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.²⁴⁸²

Arlington Rites Held for Pfc. William Norwood

Full military honors were accorded Private First Class William David Norwood of Hamburg in Fort Meyer, Va., and Arlington National Cemetery on August 2.

Private Norwood was killed in action at Peti-Boerching, France, December 19, 1944 as infantryman in the first European battles. He enlisted from Purdue University in 1942; trained here and went over in 1943. He was a graduate of Hamburg High School.

Private Norwood is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Norwood of Lake Street, a sister, Mrs. E. Brown Mills of Little Falls and a brother, John Norwood of Rye.
