Robert Olinger

MARION, Ind. — Robert P. Olinger, 82, 1315 Beckford Place, Marion, died at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 1993, at Marion General Hospital.

He was born in Converse. His wife, Beatrice B. Olinger, survives.

He retired in 1976 from Dana Corp., where he was a welder for28 years. He was a member of Church of Christ in Treaty, Ind. He was a member of the Fathers Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of the United Auto Workers Union.

Survivors include three sons, Earl Gene Olinger of Peru, and Rober Leon Olinger and Jerry Lee Olinger, both of Marion; a sister, Ethael Wright of Shirley; a half-brother, Gilbert Kaufman, residence unknown; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Raven Funeral Home. The Revs. Darrel Paris and Russell Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs Beatrice B. Turner Olinger, 89

Beatrice B. (Turner) Olinger, 89, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday in Wesleyan Healthcare Center.

The Rensselaer native was born to the late Thomas W. and Mary E. (Gassoway) Turner. She married Robert P. Olinger on Sept. 15, 1931. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1993.

Mrs. Olinger was a homemaker and had worked in the cafeteria at Marion High School. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Bunker Hill, and the Church of Christ, Treaty.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry L. (Mary) and Bob "Leon" (Cese), both of Marion a daughter, Donna May (Sonny) Lawson, Wabash a brother, Harry Turner, Rensselaer two sisters, Ruth Schrader, Bellville, Ill., and Dorothy Laffoon, Rensselaer 11 grandchildren 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Earl Gene one grandson five brothers and four sisters.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, with Pastor Jim Black officiating. Burial is in Gardens of Memory cemetery, Huntington County.
