Palmer Commits Suicide.

Creston, Jan. 4.—Robert R. Palmer, a well known grain and coal dealer, committed suicide in his office by putting a bullet through his right temple. It is believed that he grew despondent over business reverses. He leaves a widow and five children. His life was well insured. Of late he had talked much about religious matters, something that did not often engross his attention.

Suicide at Creston.

Special to the Capital.

Creston, Dec. 30.—Further particulars have come to light regarding the death of Robert R. Palmer, the well known grain and coal dealer who was found dead in his office Thursday evening. Mr. Palmer failed to go to his supper, and did not send word that he was detained as was his usual custom

The body was found at 9:30 by Everitt Willis and a boy who had occasion to call at the office. Mr. Palmer was sitting in his chair in the north end of the room, his head fallen slightly to the right, and a bullet hole in his right temple from which blood was oozing. The authorities were immediately notified and Sheriff Nichols took charge of the premises. The revolver with which he ended his life was found at his side. He was one of Creston's oldest business men, having conducted a grain and coal office here for years. He was respected and esteemed by all. Despondency is the only reason assigned for the rash act. The deceased leaves a wife and five children—three girls and two boys.
