Peffley, John B. "Jack", age 86, of Clayton, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 after an extensive illness. He was born August 22, 1919 in Troy, Ohio, son of the late Charles & Ida Barnes, residents of the Clayton area for many years. He is survived by special friends: The Reverend Robert and Mrs. Newman of Brookville, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Newman of West Milton, John Searles of Englewood, and other family members and friends.

John was a long time member of the Salem Church of the Brethren, and a graduate of Randolph High School in Englewood. He was a United States Army Veteran Proudly serving during WWII in the European Theater. He was a member and Past Master of Brookville Lodge # 596 F. & A.M., Past High Priest of Palmyra Chapter #235, member of Reese Council # 9, Reed Commander # 6 K.T., Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine Temple and Antioch Shrine Chanters. He retired from the Duriron Company in Dayton after 28 years in Sales and Administrative Assistant to the Sales Manager.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 8, at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood) with Reverends Alvin Cook and Mike Hostetter officiating. Interment will follow the service at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville, where Reverend Robert W. Newman will conduct the committal. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Shriners Childrens Hospitals, 107 East First Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402, envelopes will be provided.456
