Sanford-Sheffer Wedding Reported

The marriage of Miss Frances Sheffer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Sheffer and Conovan Sanford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sanford was solemnized Sunday, Mar. 14, at 3:30 o'clock in the parsonage of the First Christian church. Rev. J. H. Wilson, pastor of the church, officiated and read the single ring ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Sanford, brother and sister-in-law of the bridegroom, attended the couple.

The bride wore a powder blue suit with navy accessories. Her flowers were a corsage of gardenias and she wore a locket, a gift of the bridegroom.

Mrs. Sanford's dress was black with black accessories and she also wore a gardenia corsage.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents for members of the immediate families. After a short wedding trip the couple will reside at 200 South Twelfth street.

Conovan D. Sanford

RICHMOND, Ind. - Former Richmond resident Conovan D. (Connie) Sanford, age 80, 318 Dempsey, Elburn, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Rosewood Nursing Home in St. Charles, Ill.

Born in Wayne County, Ind., on Nov. 29, 1923, he was the son of Everett and Rose Coval Sanford and was a resident of Richmond before moving to Illinois in 2002. He was a 1941 graduate of Richmond High School and had attended Purdue University. A WW II Navy veteran, he was a former employee of Wallace Metal Products and retired from Paul Casket Co. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Sheffer Sanford, to whom he was married March 14, 1943; one son, Steven (Charlene) Sanford, Albion, Mich.; two daughters, Debby (Charles) Maddox, Olive Branch, Miss., and Jana (Jerry) Wells, Batavia, Ill.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Cameron and Clayton Sanford.

Funeral services for Conovan D. (Connie) Sanford will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Earlham Memorial Mausoleum with entombment to follow. Rev. David Layman will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Indiana, 9445 Delegates Row, Indianapolis, IN 46240-3805.

Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond.
