CHARLES SAWYER, EARLY PIONEER, LAID TO REST

The death of Charles Sawyer, one of the oldest pioneers on the Sunnyside project, occurred at the home of his sister in Sunnyside Sunday, and the funeral was held at Grandview Monday.

Mr. Sawyer was born in Wisconsin, but came west when just a small boy, and had lived in this valley more than twenty years. He was one of the men who helped take water from the Yakima river in the first canal constructed by the Washington Irrigation Company. He was unmarried, but leaves several brothers and sisters in valley communities to mourn him. He was 54 years of age.
