Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Schickel will celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary Aug. 22. They reside at Surgeon's Quarters.
They have a son Richard of New York (a movie critic and writer), a daughter-in-law Jill, two grandchildren Erica and Jessica.

Edward J. Schickel, 78, Ft. Winnebago Township, a retired advertising executive formerly of Wauwatosa, passed away unexpectedly this morning at Divine Savior Hospital.
Schickel and his wife Helen are presently serving as Curators at the Surgeons Quarters in Portage.
Friends may call at the Pflanz Funeral Home Chapel in Milwaukee on Saturday at 2 p.m. Entombment will be in the Chapel Gardens at Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Richard W., New York City, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Erika and Jessica, both at home and other near relatives.
The family suggests that those who wish my contribute memorials of the choice in lieu of flowers.

PORTAGE — Helen H. Schickel, age 94, of Portage, died on Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at Divine Savior Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Reverend Roger Clapp officiating. Private burial will be held in Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 21,1 1998 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage. Helen Schickel was born on August 16, 1903 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Claude J. and Mildred (Purinton) Hendricks. She attended Milwaukee Downer Seminary, and was very active in the Mayflower Society and D.A.R. Helen was married to Edward J. Schickel, who preceded her in death on November 3, 1977. She moved to Portage in 1971, where she had been the curator of the Fort Winnebago/Surgeon's Quarters until 1991. Survivors include a son, Richard Schickel, Los Angeles, California; two granddaughters, Erika (Douglas) Schickel-Freeman, and Jessica Schickel, both of Los Angeles, California; two great-grandchildren, Francis Grace and Georgia Mae, other near relatives and many close friends.
