ISAAC H. SCOTT DEAD.

Isaac Harrison Scott was born in Tennessee Sept. 24, 1840; moved with his father's family to Scottsville Mo., in 1853; came to Kansas sometime in the '60's and located near this city; was married to Miss Lois Parker in this city May 17, 1874. With the exception of a short time spent in Colorado, their home has been in this city.

Mr. Scott opened a grocery store here during the winter of 1884-85 and his widow is now conducting the business.

Mr. Scott's heald had been poorly for more than twenty years, the result of sunstroke. On Saturday morning he arose as usual, built a fire in the kitchen and, it is supposed, went out of doors for a can of water, and while there was probably stricken with apoplexy. At any rate, when Mrs. Scott discovered him later he was sitting in a chair in the kitchen and his clothing was quite wet, which would indicate that he had been out in the rain. This was about 6 o'clock. He remained in a state of unconsciousness until 9:20 a.m. when death ensued. The funeral took place from the M. E. church in this city at 2 p. m. on Suday, Rev. J. R. Ewbank officiating, and interment was made by the Odd Fellows of Samaritan Lodge, No. 35, of hich deceased had been a member for a number of years. His remains were laid to rest in the family lot in West Liberty cemetery, six miles southeast of this city.

Deceased leaves a widow and one married daughter—Mrs. Clara Scott-Brown—to mourn the loss of the husband and father.

In this hour of grief thay have the sympathy of all their friends and neighbors, and the INDEPENDENT joins the entire community in tendering them consolation in their bereavement.
