JAMES GARDNER SCOTT, son of ANNA STEWART IRVINE and JESSE SCOTT, was born January 28, 1820 in Virginia,³⁶⁸¹ and died between 1850 and July 8, 1857.

He married MARY ANN MCILWAIN on October 31, 1844 in Rush County, Indiana.^{196, 1675} She was born in 1825 in Kentucky,¹¹³⁶ and died March 27, 1881 in Des Moines, Polk, Iowa.¹¹³⁶ She was buried in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport, Scott, Iowa.^{574, 456} She was reinterred from Des Moines, Iowa.

A telegram announces that Mrs. Mary Scott, the nurse who has been visiting her son, Rufus Scott, at Des Moines, Iowa, has had two strokes of paralysis and is in a critical condition.

Too late to chronicle the fact in our last issue we learned that Mrs. Mary A. Scott died the Sunday previous. the 27th ult., at the residence of her son, Rufus I. Scott, at Des Moines, Iowa. The deceased had been a resident of Richmond, on North Green street, for more than a third of a century, and was well known as an estimable lady and a most excellent nurse. She was fifty-six years of age.
