Daniel Bates, formerly a Richmond man, died while at work last Saturday in a shop in Indianapolis. His death was caused by apoplexy. He will be buried to-morrow in Crown Hill cemetery at Indianapolis.

DIES AT THOMAS HOME

Mrs. Elizabeth C. Bates Was Indianapolis Resident Fifty Years.

Mrs. Elizabeth C. Bates, a resident of Indianapolis for about fifty years, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Archibald C. Thomas, 550 West Drive, Woodruff Place. She was born at Rushville and was the widow of Daniel P. Bates. Mrs. Bates was active in the welfare work for girls. She was a member of the Seventh Presbyterian church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Archibald C. Thomas of this city; Mrs. W. P. Widdrington, of Alhambra, Cal.; Mrs. Clyde Lindsey of Long Beach, Cay.; one brother, Rufus I. Scott, of Davenport, Ia.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Widdrington, of Alhambra, Cal., and John Bates Thomas, of this city. Funeral services and burial will be private.
