San Francisco Call, September 1, 19116450
An engagement that will surprise her many friends in this city is that of Miss Elizabeth Bohrmann and John J. Scott of New York. The betrothal was announced yesterday as the culmination of a friendship of long standing. Miss Bohrmann returned to San Francisco recently after spending the summer at the home of her sister, Mrs. H. Clay Miller, in Sausalito, where Scott, who is a lifelong friend of Miller, was also a guest.
No definite plans in regard to their marriage or their future home have been made.
Mrss Borhmann is the sister of William C. Bohrmann, well known in the business and social circles of this city, whose recent departure for Nevada was a source of keen regret to a host of friends in California. Mrs. H. Clay Miller, who before her marriage was Miss Madeline Bohrmann, is a sister, and Charles Kohler Bohrmann is a brother. The bride to be is also related to Mrs. Pierre Moore, Mrs. Edward Van Bergen, Mrs. Charles Foster, Miss Sydney Davis, Miss Minna Van Bergen and Miss Marie Louise Foster. Willie Davis, the celebrated painter, who died a year ago, was an uncle.
Miss Bohrmann is a statuesque brunette of the Juno type and is as cultured as she is beuatiful. Her early education was acquired in Europe, where she divded her studies between the fashionable seminaries of Germany and Belgium. She is a musician of note, the piano being her favorite medium of expression, and she also has the gift of languages, speaking German, French and Spanish as fluently as she does English.
Scott is a well known business man of New York, where his family holds an enviable position. Among his relatives in this city are Mrs. W. Webster and Henry Morton, who is prominent in the Pacific Union club.
San Francisco Call, October 13, 19116452
Society will have a surprise in the announcement that Miss Elizabeth Borhmann and John Scott will be married tomorrow at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Clay Miller in Sausalito. The relatives of the couple have been bidden to the ceremony, but the greatest simplicity will be observed. The wedding was set for November 4, with most elaborate setting and a reception afterward. The plans were changed suddenly on account of a business necessity that demanded the immediate presence of the bridegroom in New York. The couple decided to be married tomorrow and will leave for the east at once. Their future home will be in New York.
San Francisco Chronicle, November 11, 19176451
Mrs. John J. Scott and her children, Miss Madeleine and Thomas Scott, were accorded a warm welcome when they arrived in San Francisco a week ago. Good news, indeed, was it to the many friends of this attractive young matron to learn that she will probably be here for the greater part of the winter. It is her first visit to San Francisco since her marriage about five years ago, and her friends are happy in the opportunity of greeting her again. She has made her home in Boston since leaving this city.
Mrs. Scott was Miss Elizabeth Bohrmann and is a sister of Mrs. H. Clay Miller of Palo Alto and of William C. Bohrmann. She was a great social favorite here, and there was much regret when her marriage took her so far from this city. There will be man interesting entertainments in her honor during her visit.
