Winifred A. Stambaugh, 71, of 108 York St., died Friday evening at Hanover General Hospital. She was the wife of Elwood Stambaugh.
Born in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Rutters Kerchner. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, James E. Stambaugh, Dover, Patrick K. Stambaugh, Gettysburg, and Mrs. Sarah Griffin, of Hanover; a brother, Oscar Kerchner, York; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will meet Monday at 8:15 a.m. at Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., to go to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grandview Road, for a mass of Christian burial. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening. Prayers will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to York County Blind Center, 800 E. King St, York, a branch of the Pennsylvania Association of the Blind.

HANOVER — Elwood S. Stambaugh, 86, of 108 York St., Hanover, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 1992, at his home.
Born in Hanover, he was the son of the late William E. and Nanny V. Stauffer Stambaugh. He was the husband of the late Winifred Kerchner Stambaugh, who died in 1981.
He was a past member of the former Hanover Boys Club Band. Stambaugh attended Sand Hill School and graduated from Eichelberger High School in Hanover. He was owner and operator of Stambaugh Auto Parts from 1929 to 1980.
He is survived by: one son, Patrick K. Stambaugh, of Hanover; one daughter, Sally J. Griffin, of Hanover; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Victoria A. Altland, of York.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the W.V. Kenworthy Funeral Home Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with the Rev. Carroll C. Luckenbaugh officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing will be held Monday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Visiting Nurses Association, 217 Broadway, Hanover, Pa., 17331.
The pallbearers will be: Craig A. Stewart, Dane M. Stambaugh, David C. Stambaugh, James D. Stambaugh, Robert G. Kerchner and William W. Kerchner.
