Obituaries

New Oxford Item, September 13, 19172980

Milton Stambaugh, 63, a retired farmer, of Spring Grove, died Monday night after a long sickness of a complication of diseases, which dates back to injuries received a year ago. While unhitching a horse the animal ran out of the shafts, and in trying to stop him, Mr. Stambaugh was thrown to the ground. He was injured about the head and internally. Although he recovered from the injuries, his health began failing at that time.

MRS. EMMA R. STAMBAUGH

Mrs. Emma Roth Stambaugh, widow of Milton Stambaugh, died Saturday at 2:30 p. m. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Hoke, Jackson township, with whom she made her home the past few years. She was aged 73 years, five months and two days. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Herman A. Hoke, Jackson township; one grandson, Milton Samuel Hoke, and two granddaughters, Frances and Emily Stambaugh, daughters of the late Herman Stambaugh, Jackson township; one brother, John Roth, Jackson township, and the following sisters: Mrs. Michael Stover, Dover; Mrs. Edward Smyser, LaBott; Mrs. Curtis Lau, Nashville; and Mrs. William Eyster, West York. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday, with all services at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Hoke, Jackson township. Interment was made in the cemetery of Trinity Roth's Reformed church, Jackson township. Rev. Edward V. Strasbaugh, pastore of the Paradise Reformed charge, officiated.
