A lovely wedding of interest to Buffalo society was solemnized at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Town Club when Miss Elisabeth Beals, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lynn Staley Beals, became the bride of Dr. Charles L. Steyaart of Lyons. The Rev. G. Napier Smith of Grace Episcopal Church performed the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. Whitney Truesdale of Olean. The club was decorated with large vases of fall flowers and ferns.
The bride wore her mother's wedding gown of ivory satin. The gown was trimmed with a panel of duchess lace down the front. The skirt was very full and fell in a short train. Her long veil of ivory illusion fell from a cap in Queen Mary of Scotland style and she carried a lovely bouquet of gardenias and lilies of the valley.
Miss Priscilla H. Beals was her cousin's maid of honor. Her gown was of gold taffeta. The square neckline was edged with brown velvet ribbon and the short sleeves were very full. The gown had a hoop skirt with a deep flounce at the hem. She wore a maline bonnet to match her gown. She carried a bouquet of yellow pompons.
Mrs. Emil K. Meachem of Erie, Pa., was the matron of honor. Her gown, similar to the gown worn by the maid of honor, was of rust taffeta and she carried yellow pompons which shaded to rust in the center. The bridesmaids were Miss Shirley C. Durr of Deep River, Conn., and Miss June K. Wiley. They wore similar gowns of taffeta in a wine shade and carried pompons which shaded in the center to wine.
Barbara Potter Beals, niece of the bride, was the flower girl and wore an ivory taffeta frock made like the other attendants' gowns. David Lee Rogers of Syracuse was the ring bearer and wore an ivory satin David Copperfield suit.
Dr. David Ennis of Beverly, Mass., and Lyons was the best man. After the ceremony a reception was given. Mrs. Beals, the bride's mother wore a royal blue velvet gown made on simple lines, her only adornment being a miniature of the bride. Her accessories matched her gown. Mrs. Julius H. Potter, the bride's grandmother, was in a pansy colored velvet gown made with a V neckline and shirred bodice.
