MRS. ETTA STURMAN

Obituary

Etta Sturman was born July 10, 1872, near Arcola, Missouri, and departed this life December 2, 1952, at the family home in Lockwood, at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 22 days. She was the daughter of Jessie and Lydia Cartwright.

Mrs. Sturman was a life long resident of Dade County. She was united in marriage to Frank L. Sturman, October 15, 1893, having celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary, October 15th of this year. To this union were born two children, a daughter, Gladys Mildred Osenbaugh, who passed away in 1928, and a son, Harry Kenneth Sturman, of the home.

She was a member of the Lockwood Christian church, being converted at an early age. She was also a member of the Olive Rebekah Lodge Number 33.

Mrs. Sturman is survived by her husband Frank, and her son Harry, of the home, two granddaughters, Mrs. Beatrice Polston of Midland, Texas, and Mrs. Geraldine Collins of Lockwood, and three great-granddaughters, Shirley and Sharon Kay Polston and Joanne Collins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Lockwood Christian church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C. R. Palmer officiating.

Burial was in the Lockwood cemetery under the direction of Allison, with graveside services by the Rebekah Lodge.

Frank L. Sturman

Frank L. Sturman was born on October 28, 1869 in Livingstone County, Illinois, and passed away after a two day illness, June 12, 1959 at Lockwood Memorial Hospital, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 15 days.

Mr. Sturman came to Dade County as a young man and spent his remaining years in or near Lockwood.

He was united in marriage October 15, 1893 to Etta Cartwright who preceded him in death December 2, 1952. To this union were born two children, Gladys, deceased, and Harry of the home. The other survivors are two granddaughters, Mrs. Beatrice Polston of Midland, Texas and Mrs. Geraldine Collins of Lockwood, Mo., 3 great granddaughters and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Lockwood Christian Church at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. E. C. Horton officiating.

Burial was in the Lockwood Cemetery under the direction of the Allison Funeral Home, with graveside services by the IOOF Lodge.
