Sarah Helen Humes and Justus Avery Sutherland

JUSTUS AVERY SUTHERLAND, son of MARIA WESSEL and JUSTUS SYLVESTER SUTHERLAND, was born August 14, 1830 in Fenner, Madison, New York,^{7024, 7693} and died December 21, 1905 in Green County, Wisconsin.⁷⁶⁹³ He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, Rock, Wisconsin.⁴⁵⁶

He married SARAH HELEN HUMES on December 24, 1857 in Green County, Wisconsin.¹⁹⁹⁹ She was born in 1830,⁴⁵⁶ and died in 1917.⁴⁵⁶ She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, Rock, Wisconsin.⁴⁵⁶

Justus Avery Sutherland was born at Fenner, New York on Aug. 13, 1830 and passed from the earth on Dec. 21, aged 75 years, 4 months, 7 days. Mr. Sutherland came to Wisconsin at the age of 9 years. The greater part of his life was spent in Sylvester he acquired a farm and a handsome competence. He was every inch a man respected and esteemed by all who knew him. For a number of years he has made his home here in Albany and was known as a quiet, peaceable citizen well liked by all. In December, 1857 he married Helen Humes who survives him. They were the parents of one daughter, Francis, wife of H.C. Putnam of Brodhead, who died some years since. Besides his heart broken wife he leaves two brothers, Samuel of Lennox, S.D. and Archie of Oshkosh, a sister Miss Mary Sutherland of this city. Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church here on Sunday conducted by the pastor and the remains taken to Brodhead for interment on Monday.
