Elizabeth Mary Hocking Rowe Tobie, 83

Memorial service for Elizabeth Mary Hocking Rowe Tobie, 83, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Liberty Park United Methodist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 48-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Tobie died Monday.

She was born in Hancock, Mich., and graduated from Hancock High School in 1934.

She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Frank; a son, Milton Tobie of Sandy, Ore.; two daughters, Mary Fagan of Spokane and Susan Heyen of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother and two sisters; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

TOBIE, Frank F. Our wonderful father passed away on December 1st at Park Place Retirement Home. Frank was born on December 19, 1920 to Harvey and Eunice Tobie in Scio, Oregon. He enrolled at the University of Oregon, but left school in 1943 to enlist in the army. While training for the Signal Corps in Michigan, he met and fell in love with Elizabeth Rowe and they were married on September 25, 1944. he was discharged from the army in 1946 and returned to Eugene, OR to complete college. They moved to Spokane in 1951 and Frank began working for the city as a planner. He retired in 1986. In 1999 he lost his beloved wife, Betty. He is survived by his three children, Mary, Milton, Susan and son-in-law Greg, two grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. He was a great role model and a kind and gentle soul and will be dearly missed. Memorials may be made to Liberty Park United Methodist Church where he was a long standing member. Services will be held there on Friday, December 7th at 11:30 with interment at Greenwood Cemetary at 2:30.
