Esther Transue Bride of Mr. Transue

The Rev. Arthur A. Wright, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated at the 2 o'clock ceremony Saturday afternoon when Miss Esther Ostrander became the bride of Ralph R. Transue.

The bride is the daughter of Robert E. Ostrander, 28 Park Street, Johnson City. Mrs. Margaret Transue of Vestal R. D. 3 is the bridegroom's mother.

The former Miss Ostrander wore a gown of sheer white marquisette with long train. A satin coronet caught her fingertip veil of illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses.

Sister of the bride, Miss Elvajane Ostrander, was maid of honor in a blue gown. The bridesmaids, Miss Marcia Smith of St. Joseph, Pa., and Miss Eunice Crandall of Ames, wore pink and yellow respectively.

Atos Woodruff of Endicott was best man. Richard Smith and Richard Canfield, both of Vestal, ushered.

After the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors.

Esther M. Transue of Johnson City

Esther M. Transue, 73, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 1, 1998. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and friend to many. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Patricia Transue and is survived by her husband, Ralph R. Transue, Johnson City; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and James Loomis, Binghamton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan and Susan Transue, Johnson City; Robert Transue, Binghamton; a sister, Janie Ostrander, Johnson City; a foster daughter, Margaret Haggerty and family, Binghamton; ten grandchildren: Scott, Jim, Philip, and Matthew Loomis, Leith, Dory and Jordan Transue, Chris, Tim and Angelo Eleftheratos; and her cat, Tiger. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Binghamton, a retiree of the Wilson Memorial Hospital and was a foster parent.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St., Johnson City with the Rev. Michael McKimmy, the Rev. Kenneth McIntosh and the Rev. George Kyrk officiating. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Barber Memorial Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund of the First Christian Church, 1 Grand Boulevard, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.

Ralph Transue, 95, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. He was predeceased by his wife Esther; son Alan; daughter in law Patricia and sister in law Janie. He is survived by his son Bob and Mary Barta Transue; daughter and son in law Gail and Jim Loomis; daughter in law Sue Transue; foster daughter Margaret Haggerty; grandchildren Scott, James, Philip and Matthew Loomis; Leith, Cory and Jordan Transue and 11 great grandchildren. Ralph was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps. He retired from ANSCO/GAF as a lab technician. Ralph was an active member of the First Christian Church in Binghamton. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept 11th at CrossPoint Community Church, 1 Grand Blvd, Binghamton at 10:00am.
