The recent sale of the jewelry business of Julius R Watts & Co. to J W Timms, and the optical business to C E Folsom, creates a change on Whitehall street that will attract considerable attention.
Julius R. Watts & Co sold their Whitehall street business for the purpose of engaging in a larger enterprise. For some time, Mr J R Watts has been president, and Mr Hugh C Scott secretary and treasurer of the Dykema System Concrete Company. This business has grown so rapidly that they decided to dispose of their jewelry and optical business and devote their entire time to their concrete business. Their new field of endeavor is promising and the company holds certain valuable patents for the manufacture of building material. The character of the work covered by these patents is said to be of an unusual high grade.
The offices of the Dykema Concrete company are at 606 and 609 Peters building where the people who are interested in concrete of any kind, and especially of building material, whether in concrete brick or larger stones, will find information that will be available.
Mr. John B Young is the efficient superintendent of the company.
