The LaCrosse Methodist church was the scene of a beautiful candlelight wedding in which Miss Ida Heiniger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heiniger of LaCrosse, became the bride of Dale Bruder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bruder of LaCrosse. The double ring ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. Duane Hulse at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, before an altar decorated with palms, baskets of yellow chrysanthemums and lighted candelabra.
Preceding the ceremony, appropriate music was play by Miss Marilyn Tucker of LaCrosse, who wore a blue taffeta gown and a corsage of gardenia. Hugh Wright sang "Because" and "At Dawning."
As the bridal march from Lohengrin was played, the groom and the best man, Jim McMahn, took their places at the alter followed by the ushers, Hugh Wright, Bob Bruder and Rolland Meiss. Their gifts from the groom were wallets.
Miss Vera Meiss of LaCrosse, a bridesmaid, came down the white-carpeted aisle, gowned in a coral taffeta Victorian Air gown styled with cap sleeves and a full skirt. Her bouquet was of yellow roses. She was followed by Miss Jean Heinold, niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Mary Bivens of Wheeler, who also acted as bridesmaids. Their coral taffeta gowns were fashioned exactly like that of the other bridesmaid, and they carried like bouquets of yellow roses. Miss Edna Germann of North Judson, matron of honor and cousin of the bride, was lovely in an aqua Victorian Air gown designed like those of the bridesmaids. She carried a bouquet of deep red roses. The bride's gift to her attendants were Elgin American compacts. Little Carolyn Kay Williams, cousin of the bride, entered wearing a yellow gown of ninon and yellow roses in her hair. She carried a dainty basket from which she dropped pink rose petals in the path of the bride. Her gift from the bride was a bracelet. Gary Heinold, nephew of the goom, was ring bearer and was dressed in a light blue suit. He carried the wedding rings in the center of a white lily. A novel tie pin was the gift from the bridegroom.
The lovely bride entered on the arm of her uncle, Sam Heiniger of Kouts, who gave her in marriage. She was radiant in a gown of white slipper satin, made by her sisters, which was fashioned with a yoke of net, trimmed with a full ruffle of feather design rayon lace edged with crystal beads. The gown had a full skit, with a bustle and three-yard train. Her soft blusher veil trimmed with chantilly lace, fell from a colonial bonnet. She carried a bouquet of white roses in the center of which was an orchid. Her only jewelry was a strand of pearls, gift from the groom.
After the ceremony, the couple and their attendants left the altar to the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march and formed a receiving line at the entrance of the church.
Mrs. Heiniger, mother of the bride, wore a navy blue dress with black accessories and corsage of red roses. The mother of the groom wore a flowered print dress with black accessories and a corsage of white roses.
The reception given by the bride's parents for 200 guests was held at the church annex, which was decorated with crepe paper and fall flowers. The bride's table was centered with a three-tier wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom and a wedding bell, and was circled with a garland of pink and white roses and ferns. A lovely two-course luncheon was served by Pricilla Spiess, Aldene Bucher, Betty Lou Heinold, Phyllis Simpkins, Wilma Meiss, Joyce Earle, Verna Krueger and Dora Bogart. They were presented with lipstick as gifts from the bride.
The bride and bridegroom then opened their many beautiful gifts, after which the wedding cake was cut by the couple and served to the guests.
For her going away outfit, the bride wore a powder blue suit of the same color and design as that of the bridegroom, with red accessories and wearing a corsage of purple orchids. After a short wedding trip the couple will be at home in their new house in LaCrosse.
The bride, a graduate of LaCrosse high school, class of 1946, is employed at the Northern Indiana Public Service company of Valparaiso. The groom was a member of the United States army and is now employed at the LaCrosse Grain company.
Guests present at the wedding and reception were from Kouts, Valparaiso, Wheeler, Chesterton, North Judson, Wanatah, Laddy, O., Cissna Park, Claytonville and Buckly, Ill.
