WANATAH — Charles W. Carpenter, 82, of Wanatah, died Friday, Oct. 11, 1991, at Porter Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1909, in Kouts, the son of Clarance and Amanda (Delaney) Carpenter.
On Oct. 14, 1933 he married Mary (Bruder), who survivies him.
A retired farmer, he was also employed for 20 years as a school bus driver for the Wanatah School System.
Also surviving are a son, Thomas of San Diego, Cal.; a brother, Delbert Carpenter, of Sidney, Mont.; a sister, Marian Perez of Victoria, Tex.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Carpenter, 92, of Wanatah, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the VNA Horton Hospice in Valparaiso.
She was born Feb. 13, 1916 in LaCrosse, to Edgar and Mary (Street) Bruder.
Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Wanatah, and Ladies Aid of the church.
On Oct. 14, 1933, in La Porte, she married Charles Carpenter, who died in 1991.
She is survived by one son, Thomas (Marilyn) Carpenter of San Diego; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Pumroy of Valparaiso and one brother, Melvin Bruder of Valparaiso.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Natalie June Fary; and two great-grandchildren, Kendall Wallace and Jay Quinn.
The funeral will be Friday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 15496S CR-900W, Wanatah, with Rev. Joel Zipay officiating. Friends may call at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts, Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
