DICKENSHEETS—MYERS

Elmer D. Dickensheets, son of James E. Dickensheets, Westminster, Md., and Miss Elsie Catherine Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Myers, Jackson township, near Spring Grove, were untied in marriage at 6 o'clock on Saturday evening at the parsonage of the Paradise Reformed charge on North Water street, Spring Grove. The ring ceremony of the Reformed church was performed by the pastor, the Rev. E. V. Strasbaugh. The couple went to housekeeping immediately after the ceremony near Westminster.

Elmer D. Dickensheets

HANOVER

Elmer D. Dickensheets, 92, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care, Sunday, August 22, 2010, at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center.

Born January 24, 1918, in Carroll County, Md., he was the son of the late James and Nora (Davis) Dickensheets. Elmer was the loving husband of E. Catherine (Myers) Dickensheets, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage.

Elmer retired from the P.H. Glatfelter Paper Company in Spring Grove after 35 years of service. In his earlier years he also farmed and was a sexton at St. Paul's Dubs Church.

Elmer was a member of St. Paul's Dubs United Church of Christ, Hanover, and a member of the 1/4 Century club at the paper mill.

In addition to his wife, Elmer is survived by four children, Evelyn M. Grubb, Vernon D. Dickensheets, Marlet Dickensheets and Dwight E. Dickensheets, all of Hanover; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Elmer's life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with his Pastor the Rev. Larry M. Estepp officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Dubs Church Cemetery, Hanover. The family will receive friends and share memories form 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. As per Elmer's wishes there will be no public viewing.

Serving as casketbearers will be Vernon Dickensheets, Tony Dickensheets, Scott Dickensheets, Daryl Grubb, Carl Grubb, and Troy Grubb.

Contributions in memory of Elmer may be made to the St. Paul's Dubs Church Cemetery Fund, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331.

E. Catharine Dickensheets, 100, entered God's eternal care, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at her home, with her loving family by her side.

Born June 1, 1917, in Jackson Township, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Becker) Myers. Catharine was the loving wife of Elmer Davis Dickensheets with whom she shared 71 years of marriage until his passing on August 22, 2010.

Mrs. Dickensheets was a member of St. Paul's Dubs United Church of Christ, Hanover.

She and her late husband were the caretakers at the church from 1946 to 1958.

Catharine enjoyed the simple life. She loved gardening, baking, and especially cooking large meals for her family at Christmas time.

Catharine is survived by her children, Evelyn M. Grubb, Vernon D. Dickensheets, E. Marlet Dickensheets, and Dwight E. Dickensheets all of Hanover; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great- grandchildren; and one brother, Sterling Myers. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Arline Shaberly, Raymond Myers, Dorothy Stavely, and Albert Myers, Jr.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Catharine will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, with her Pastor the Rev. Larry M. Estepp officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Dubs Church Cemetery, Hanover. As per Catharine's wishes there will be no public viewing, however, the family will receive friends and share memories from 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2017 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Catharine's memory may be made to the York County S.P.C.A., 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 or the Hospice Program of the VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
