Two Weddings In Spring Grove Area

Spring Grove — Miss Pauline Louise Zinn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Zinn, Thomasville R. D., and Pfc. Frederick Mark Sauter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Malvin A. Sauter, Menges Mills, were united in marriage Saturday at Christ (Roth's) Lutheran church, Jackson township, in the presence of the immediate families, by the bridegroom's pastor, Rev. Richard S. Shanebrook. The single ring ceremony of the Lutheran church was used. The couple was unattended.

The bride wore a powder blue dress with white accessories, a corsage of talisman rosebuds, and a pair of gold ear-rings, the gift of the bridegroom. THe bride's mother wore an aqua net dress with a corsage of red rosebuds, while the bridegroom's mother wore a navy print dress with a corsage of salmon-colored rosebuds. Each wore white accessories.

After the ceremony, a reception was held for the guests at the home of the bride's parents. Immediately after the reception, the couple left on a wedding trip to Atlantic City. The bride is employed at the Herbert J. Freezer company, York, and the bridegroom, before going into the Army, was employed at Stallman's in York. Pfc. Sauter returned recently from four months overseas duty in the European theatre.

Frederick M. 'Fred' Sauter

Frederick M. "Fred" Sauter, 86, of East Berlin, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Pauline L. (Zinn) Sauter, his wife of 64 years.

He was born January 25, 1923, in Heidelburg Township, York Cty., the son of the late Malvin A. and Altie A. (Chronister) Sauter.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, West King Street, East Berlin, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. William L. Lindsay, officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

A viewing will be held Sunday, Dec. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1916, East Berlin, Pa. 17316 or to the East Berlin VFW, Locust St. Ext., East Berlin, PA 17136, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3535, Gettysburg, PA 17325.

Pauline L. (Zinn) Sauter, 94, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Brunswick at Longstown Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Frederick “Fred” M. Sauter, her husband of 64 years, who died December 10, 2009.

Pauline was born January 5, 1924 in Jackson Twp, PA, the daughter of the late Samuel F. and Minerva K. (Myers) Zinn.

Pauline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, East Berlin, a life member of the East Berlin Historical Society and East Berlin Library, and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked along with her husband, as co-owner, of Fred M. Sauter Funeral Home for many years. Pauline loved to cook, and being a hostess. All were welcome in her home. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Pauline is survived by a son, Stephen F. Sauter and his wife Joan of Abbottstown, two daughters: Constance E. Stidd and her husband Jay of Huntingdon, PA, and Sara A. Leppo of Spring Grove, a daughter-in-law, Linda N. Sauter of York, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two brothers; Earl Zinn of Spring Grove and Charles Zinn of York, and one sister, Delores Whitman of York. She was predeceased by a son, Jesse A. Sauter, a grandson, Nathaniel W. Leppo, three sisters; Mary Freed, Ethel Hoover, and Eva Ort, two brothers; Sterling Zinn and John Zinn, and a son-in-law, Kim Leppo.

A Memorial Services will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00AM from the Trinity Lutheran Church, 117 West King St., East Berlin, with Pastor Aaron Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Berlin Union Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church Friday, from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to her church, Trinity Lutheran Church, 117 West King St., P.O. Box 1016, East Berlin, PA.17316, or a charity of your own choice. The Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin is in charge of the arrangements.10006
