Couple Observes 50th Anniversary At Spring Grove

SPRING GROVE — Mr. and Mrs. Samuel F. Zinn, 259 West Jackson Street., Spring Grove, were honored by their children at a family dinner party recently at the Hotel Yorktowne on their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Zinn is the formerMinerva Myers, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Myers, Jackson Township. Zinn is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Zinn, who are residing in Spring Grove.

They were married March 13, 1920 by the late Rev. Fred Geesey, pastor of Christ (Roth's) Lutheran Church.

Their nine children, all residing in the Spring Grove area are Mrs. Luther Freed, Mrs. Fred Sauter, Mrs. Kenneth Hoover, John Zinn, Earl Zinn, Sterling Zinn, Mrs. William Witman, Mrs. Harold Ort and Charles Zinn.

They have 33 grandchildren.

Mrs. Samuel Zinn

Mrs. Minerva K. Zinn, 70, of 259 West Jackson Street, Spring Grove, died at Memorial Osteopathic Hospital, York, at 7:15 a.m. today. She was the wife of Samuel F. Zinn. A daughter of the late Jesse and Alice Trymp Myers, she was a lifelong resident of Jackson Township. She was a member of Roth's United Church of Christ, near Spring Grove, and of the Women's Guild Society of the church. Surviving also are four sons, John, Earl and Charles, all of Spring Grove, and Sterling, York; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Freed, Spring Grove R. D. 2, Mrs. Pauline Sauter, East Berlin, Mrs. Ethel Hooverr and Mrs. Delores Witman, both of York, Mrs. Eva Ort, Spring Grive R. D. 1; 34 grandchildren and a brother, John T. Myers, Spring Grove R. D. 3. Funeral services will be held at Roths United Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Her pastor, the Rev. Joseph M. Steinert, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the service, and at the Fred M. Sauter funeral home 306 Harrisburg Street, East Berlin, Monday evening.

Samuel F. Zinn

SPRING GROVE — Samuel F. Zinn, 97, of Spring Grove, died at 11 p.m. Monday at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover. He was the husband of Minerva (Myers) Zinn, who died July 15, 1972.

The service will be 1 a.m. Thursday at Trinity (Roth's) United Church of Christ, Spring Grove RD 4. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Sauter-Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Zinn was born April 20, 1899, in Jackson Township. He was the son of the late James A. and Mazie (Ziegler) Zinn.

He retired in 1965 from Thomasville Stone and Lime Co., after 35 years of service, and was a former farmer in West Manchester Township. He was the oldest member of Trinity (Roth's) United Church of Christ, where he was a former deacon and elder, and a member of Windy Hill Senior Center and American Association of Retired Persons.

Mr. Zinn is survived by four sons, John M. Zinn, Earl E. Zinn and Charles E. Zinn, all of Spring Grove, and Sterling M. Zinn of Wellsville; five daughters, Mary A. Freed of Hanover, Pauline L. Sauter of East Berlin, Ethel M. Hoover of York Springs and Dolores J. Witman and Eva R. Ort, both of York; 32 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Margaret Holtzapple, Mary Richards and Geraldine Eberle, all of York, and Anna Herman of Spring Grove.

Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Mary E. Hutchens.
