OF INTEREST to a number of Muncie residents is the marriage of Miss Mary Marshall Leonard and Robert Pierce Allingham which took place Feb. 23 at St. Stephan's Episcopal Church, Cohasset, Mass. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emery N. Leonard, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Allingham of Providence, R. I. He is the son of the former Caroline Pierce, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley C. Pierce and nephew of George W. Pierce of Muncie.
Rev. Bradford Tite and Rev. Charles Farrae of Delray Beach, Fla. performed the formal double-ring ceremony. Bouquets of all white flowers were arranged at the altar.
A beautiful entrained gown of white satin was worn by the bride, who was given in marriage by her father. Mother-of-pearl sequins and seed pearls outlined the v-neckline, which was filled in with nylon net to form a high neckline. The long sleeves came to points over the hands, and her bouffant skirt extended into a cathedral train. An heirloom cap of scalloped rosepoint lace held in place her fingertip length veil of illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of white gardenias and stephanotis.
Mrs. Thomas Snow of Cleveland, O., was her sister's matron-of-honor. She was gowned in a floor length creation of peacock blue taffeta fashioned with a boat neckline. With this she wore long mitts of matching material. She carried a cascade bouquet of red rose and spring flowers, and in her hair she wore a band of red roses.
Bridesmaids were Miss Marshall Woodbridge of New York City, cousin of the bride; Miss Wesley Allingham of Providence, R. I., sister of the bridegroom; Miss Elizabeth Leonard of Ridgewood, N. J., and Miss Judith Miller of Watertown, Mass. they wore gowns like that of the honor attendant, and they carried bouquets of spring flowers in pastel shades. Yellow and white flowers were worn in their hair.
George Johnson of Wellesley, Mass., was best man. Ushers were William Crafts, Stafford Burrell, Richard Brackett and Kenneth Church.
A smart amethyst faille dress was worn with pink satin accessories by the mother of the bride. A corsage of pink camellias was pinned to her shoulderline.
Mrs. Allingham chose to wear a stylish beige lace dress with brown velvet accessories. Pinned to her shoulderline was a corsage of green orchids.
A reception for 150 guests was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Arnold Weeks and Mrs. Ralph Gordon assisted with serving. Later the couple left for a wedding trip to Lake Placid. The bride traveled in an ivory faille dress with which she wore brown velvet accessories and a shoulder corsage of white gardenias. They are making their home at 175A Boston Post road, Waterford, Conn.
The bride was graduated from Concord Academy, and from Randolph Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, Va., where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.
Mr. Allingham attended Bowdoin College, and he was graduated from Brown University in 1951. He served two years in the Navy. Mr. Allingham is a research chemist for Phyzer Chemical Company.

Robert Pierce Allingham '49 died on May 13, 2007, in Groton, Conn. Born on February 1, 1928, in Newton Mass., he prepared for college at Newton High School and became a member of Zeta Psi Fraternity at Bowdoin, which he attended in 1946 before serving in the U.S. Navy for two years as a laboratory technician at St. Alban's Hopsital on Long Island, N.Y. He graduated from Brown University in 1951 and later attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he completed his work for a doctorate in 1957. He joined Chas. Pfizer and Company, Inc., in 1951 as a research chemist and remained with that firm until he retired in 1993. He specialized in the food chemistry and pharmaceutical fields. He was a member of the board of directors of the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut and a member of the board of directors of the Shenecossett Beach Club. He was married in 1952 to Mary M. Leonard, who survives him, as do two sons, Thomas J. Allingham II of Wilmington, Del., and Stephen E. Allingham of Groton, Conn.; a daughter, Sarah E. Wills of Groton, Conn.; and seven grandchildren.
