MISS VIRGINIA HAYMOND, daughter of W. O. Haymond, of 411 Wheeling Av., and George Pierce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley C. Pierce of West Howard St., were married Saturday afternoon at the St. John's Universalist Church. The Reverend Arthyr W. McDavitt, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony in the presence of a large number of guests. The bride's attendants were her sisters, Mrs. Earl Milner of Danvill, Ill., and Mrs. Boehler Smith of Dayton, and Mrs. Robert Allingham, of Boston, Mass., a sister of the bridegroom. Joseph Erskine of Chicago was the best man. The ushers were Max Swigart of Cincinnati, Earl Milner, Jr. and Boehler Smith. Preceding the ceremony the church organist played a group of bridal selections and sounded the wedding march for the entrance of the bridal party. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore white lace and carried a shower of white flowers. The bridesmaids were dressed in rgandy in the pastel shades and their accessories were in the pastel colors. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Haymond home on Wheeling Ave. In addition to the bridal party in the receiving line wre Mr. and Mrs. Wesley C. Pierce and Mrs. Edgar F. Haymond, an aunt of the bride. Prs. Pierce wore a gown of blue chiffon and Mrs. Haymond was dressed in blue lace. Assisting in the dining room were Mrs. Smith Townsend and Mrs. John Coffin. Mrs. Townsend was dressed in blue lace and Mrs. Coffin wore pink lace. Later the couple was to leave for a month's stay in California and upon their return will make their home in this city. The bride's traveling costume consists of a navy blue tailored suit with navy accessories. Since the announcement of the wedding date, a number of pre-nuptial affairs have been given. The bride is a graduate of Central High School and of Indiana University. She is a member of Chi Omega Sorority and is a teacher in the public schools. Mr. Pierce is a graduate of the Central High School, DePauw University, Harvard Law School. Since his graduation he has been affiliated with the Campbell-Clithetro-Fisher law firm in Chicago. He is a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Harvard Club and the Union League Club. He is also a member of the Illinois and Indiana Bar associations. Upon Mr. and Mrs. Pierce's return to this city Mr. Pierce will be affiliated with the law firm of White and Haymond.

George W. Pierce, 66, 108 Berwyn, Muncie attorney since 1937 and member of the law firm White, Pierce, Beasley and Gilkison, died this morning at Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Pierce bean his practice of law in 1934 in Chicago shortly after graduation from Harvard Law School.
Earlier he had received A.B. and M.A. degrees from DePauw University in 1929 and did graduate work at Harvard before attending law school. He later attended Northwestern School of Commerce.
He was born in Muncie, the son of Wesley C. and Cora Bruns Pierce, and was a 1926 graduate of Muncie Central High School where his father was a teacher of printing for many years.
Mr. Pierce was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Muncie Lodge 433 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, and Fort Wayne Shrine.
He was a member of the Delaware County, Indiana, American and Indianapolis Bar associations, the American College of Probate Counsel, American Judicature Society, American Right of Way Association and Indiana Probate Code Study Commission.
In addition, he belonged to the Muncie Chamber of Commerce, Indiana State Chamber of Commerce, Muncie Rotary Club, Muncie Club, Athenaeum Turners of Indianapolis, Muncie Torch Club, and Delta Tau Delta social fraternity.
At one time Mr. Pierce served the Delaware County United Fund as campaign chairman and president of the board. For many years he was a member of Muncie Symphony Orchestra in which he played clarinet. For several years he was a member of the Muncie Public Library Board.
In addition to his wife, the former Virginia Haymond, he is survived by two sons, George Kenner Pierce, London, England, and Walter Haymond Pierce, a doctoral candidate at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Robert Allingham, Providence, R.I., and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Meeks Mortuary with Dr. Laurence Martin officiating. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers for George W. Pierce, 66, whose funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Meeks Mortuary, will be members of the law firm of which Mr. Pierce was a partner. They are Walter D. White, John B. Beasley, Frank F. Gilkison, Charles V. Retherford, Jack E. Buckles, Charles R. Clark, Kelly N. Stanley, and Malcolm M. Metzler.
In addition to previously mentioned activities and memberships, Mr. Pierce was secretary of the Storer Scholarship Committee.
Friends are being received at the mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Virginia Haymond Pierce, 68, 108 Berwyn Road, died Monday afternoon at Ball Hospital. She was the widow of attorney George W. Pierce.
She was born in Muncie, and graduated from Muncie High School in 1924. She later attended Ball State University and graduated from Indiana University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
Mrs. Pierce taught at Wilson and McKinley junior high schools. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a charter member of Tri Kappa sorority and a member of Monday Afternoon Club, Paul Revere Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and McRae Club, and was a past president of the YWCA board of directors.
Surviving are two sons, George Kenner Pierce, London, and Walter H. Pierce, Idaho Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Smith, Muncie, and Mrs. Priscilla Milner, Williamsburg, Va., and two grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Virginia Haymond Pierce, 68, 108 Berwyn Road, widow of Muncie lawyer George Pierce will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Meeks Mortuary.
Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary an hour before the services. Memorials may be sent to the Muncie Public Library or the YWCA, where Mrs. Pierce was a former president of the board of directors. A life-long Muncie resident, she died Monday afternoon.
