Marriage Announcements and News

Fort Scott Tribune and The Fort Scott Monitor, August 17, 19179048

Irvine-Blincoe

A wedding of unusual social interest will take place this evening at eight o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Irvine, of 320 South Judson street, when their only daughter, Frances Belle Irvine, will be united in marriage to Second Lieutenant Ernest E. Blincoe, U. S. A., formerly a member of Company G., K. N. G.

A touch of militarism will characterize the arrangements for the wedding which will be carried out with quiet simplicity. Pink and white are the chosen colors in floral decorations and other appointments. About fifty guests will witness the ceremony will will be performed by Rev. A. E. Van Orden of Salina, Kas., formerly pastor of the First Presbyterian church here.

The bridal party will stand in the southwest corner of the parlor, before an arch of tropical plants, palms and ferns. "The Star Spangled Banner" forms an effective back ground to the whole. Before the ceremony, Miss Golda Cline will sing, "I Love You Truly" by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, with Miss Mattie Belle Bright as accompanist. She will play Lohengrin's Bridal Chorus, as the bridal couple come down the stairway, preceded by the bridesmaid, Miss Helen Farrel of Marionville, Mo.

The impressive ring ceremony will be use. Annie Laurie will be softly played during the ceremony after which the bride's cousin, Miss Irene Houston of Malta Bend, Mo., will sing "The Sunshine of Your Smile."

The bride, who is a very attractive brunette, will make a lovely appearance in her airy gown of white net, made with a tunic and fichue edged in dainty val lace, with accessories of white satin. Her arm bouquet will be of bride's roses, which she will afterwards toss among her girl friends. The groom, of course, will wear his uniform of khaki.

The wedding of Miss Irvine and Lieutenant Blincoe is the culmination of a school day romance. They went through high school together. The bride graduated in the class of 1912, and has completed a four year course at Kansas University, receiving the degree of A. B. and also specializing in domestic science. She has made her home in Fort Scott for the past twenty years. Her sweet disposition and gentle manners have made her a favorite with all who know her.

Mr. Blincoe is a young man of many admirable qualities. He is the son of Mrs. Izore Blincoe of 120 South Hill street. Before coming to Fort Scott the family lived at Hiattville. After his graduation in 1911 from the local high school, he gratified his ambition to be a lawyer, receiving the degree of L. L. D. last June at K. U. after completing a six years' law course.

War changed the future plans of the young people, however, and Mr. Blincoe enlisted at the officers' training camp at Fort Riley. He has just completed that work and has been appointed a second lieutenant. Last year he went to the border with Company G. He expects to see service in France later. For the present he will be stationed at Fort Riley.

Lieutenant and Mrs. Blincoe will remain here during his furlough, for a week or more, when they will go to Ft. Riley. The fervent wishes of many friends for a long life of happiness and usefullness follow the young couple.

Other out of town guests include Rev. and Mrs. A. E. Van Orden of Salina, Kas., Mrs. Alex McRoberts and three children of Malta Bend, Mo.
