Edgar Bowers, Delco Battery Employee, Dies

Edgar F. Bowers, 58, R.R. 4, died at Ball Hospital Friday morning. Although he had suffered a heart attack more than a month ago, his death was unexpected.

Mr. Bowers was born in Delaware County, was graduated from Cowan High School, and continued to reside in Monroe Township all his life. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in Europe. For the past 34 years Mr. Bowers was employed at Delco Battery while at the same time being engaged in farming.

He was a member of Cowan Christian Church, a member and past master at Whitney Lodge 229, F&AM, a past patron of Order of Eastern Star 564, and a member of York Rite.

Surviving are his wife, Jane; two sons, Gordon Bowers, R.R. 1, Springport, and Scott Bowers, a student at nashville Auto-Diesel College; a brother, Richard Bowers, R.R. 4; and three grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Albert Lorber and Rev. Thomas R. Edward officating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery.

Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m. Saturday and prior to services Sunday. Members of Whitney Lodge 229 will conduct memorial services at the mortuary at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Jane K. Bowers

YORKTOWN - Jane K. Bowers, Yorktown, passed away Saturday morning, July 23, 2005 at the Ball Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Muncie, January 10, 1914, the daughter of Walter N. Bickford and Nina (Johnson) Bickford. Jane graduated from Cowan High School in 1932. She married Edgar F. Bowers June 4, 1937.

Mrs. Bowers taught at Cowan Elementary School for 45 years and retired in 1982. She lived her entire life in Delaware County.

Her memberships include the Daleville Women's Club; Daleville Order of the Eastern Star and she was Past Worthy Matron of the Whitney Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, John Scott Bowers, Yorktown; four grandchildren, Natalia Bowers, Berlin, Germany; Scott A. Bowers; Lisa Moore, (husband-Edward) and Phyllis Harris, all of California; four great grandchildren, Dante and Julian DiClemente and Megan and John Harris, all of California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar F. Bowers, November 26, 1971; her son, Gordon A. Bowers, November, 1973; and her parents.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. David Siebenaler officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday or after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
