Bowers Rites On Wednesday

H. Reid Bowers, 78, RR 4, died Sunday at Bell Hospital following an extended illness.

A native of Salem, and a life-long resident of Delaware County, he was a retired farmer. A charter member of the Delaware County Farm Bureau and a member of the Cowan Christian Church, he had served as director and president of the Oakville Elevator for 45 years.

Surviving are his widow, Ethel; two sons, Richard, Yorktown, and Edgar, Muncie; a sister, Mrs. Harry Chaddock, Muncie; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Albert Lorher officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Summit Cemetery.

Callers will be received at the mortuary from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the services Wednesday.

Ethel Bowers Dies At Ball Hospital

Mrs. Ethel F. Bowers, 79, widow of H. Reid Bowers, RR 4 Muncie, died early this morning at Ball Hospital following an illness of three weeks.

The daughter of Stephen and Mary Harrold Fleming, she had resided her entire life in the house which her father, a pioneer of this county and Civil War veteran, had built. She was a member of Cowan Christian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Richard and Edgar Bowers, both of RR 4; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Albert Lorber and Rev. Thomas Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Summit Cemetery.

Friends may call at the mortuary from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and prior to services Wednesday.
