Mrs. Gregory Rites In Denver Today

Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie Gregory of Vail who died Sunday at Fitzsimons Hospital were held today at the Glenn Randall Phillips Methodist Church in Denver.

Burial will be in the Ft. Logan National Cemetery.

Born Sept. 19, 1923 in Denver, Mrs. Gregory lived in Colorado Springs and Fountain, and was a graduate of the Fountain High School. She and Benard Gregory, of Fountain, were married on May 21, 1944. They lived in San Diego, Calif., where he was stationed with the Navy and upon retirement moved to Denver in August 1960.

For the past two and a half years Mrs. Gregory has been bookkeeper and manager of the Vail Village Inn.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Gregory is survived by two sons, Russell, a student at Mesa Junior College, and Darrell, who is a junior high school student in Vail; her father, G. Archie Boyce of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Esther Tull of Colorado Springs, Mrs. Maxine Lester of Berkeley, Calif. and Mrs. Barbara McGuire of Denver, and three brothers, Robert Boyce, Pueblo, Donald Boyce of La Meta, Calif., and Dale Boyce of Castle Rock.

Bernard "Ben" Clark Gregory

July 3, 1921 - April 28, 2017

Ben was born July 3, 1921, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Edward Clark Gregory and Rilla Frances Edgar. At 95, he passed away on April 28, 2017, in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he resided.

Ben graduated from Fountain High School in 1940 and joined the Navy in the same year. He married Marjorie Fern Boyce, also a graduate of Fountain High, in Raton, New Mexico, May 21, 1944. Their first son, Russell Duane, was born in 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas, where Ben was stationed. Their second son, Darrell Boyce, was born in 1953 in Coronado, California.

A career Navy man, Ben served in World War II and the Korean Theatre. He retired from the Navy in 1960. After retiring he worked for the Martin Company in Denver, managed auto service stations in Denver and Vail, and as a carpenter and electrician at the Gilman Mine. Ben retired from the mine in 1983.

His hobbies included piloting small aircraft, traveling, coin collecting, skiing, and gardening. He was a member of the VFW, and was an active volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction, where he also attended church services.

He is survived by his son, Darrell Boyce (Linda) Gregory of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, David, Jason, and Sarah; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three wives, Marjorie Boyce, Mary Rufien, and Donna Buckley; son, Russell; granddaughter, Jessica; great-grandson, Daniel; and seven siblings, William, Rilla, Kenneth, Margaret, Paul, Roy, ad Richard.

Viewing will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Wednesday, May 3 from 3 - 5:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Fort Logan Cemetery the following day at 10:30 a.m.

Ben will be missed by the many friends he has in the Grand Junction area. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to The Christian Broadcasting Network.
