Lula G. Carmichael

Lula G. (Davison) Carmichael, 95 of Boone, Iowa, formerly of Hopkins, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 1996, at a Boone hospital of congestive heart failure. She had been a resident of Boone since 1995.

Born in Hopkins on December 6, 1900, to Robert Harvey Davison and Belle Margaret Lasley Davison, she attended Hopkins High School. On Dec. 2, 1923, she married Homer J. Carmichael in Bedford, IA. Homer's grandfather Rev. Constant J. Carmichael performed the ceremony. Homer died in 1967.

Mrs. Carmichael worked as a dental hygienist in Clarinda, IA, before her marriage. She and Homer lived in Bedford, IA, where she operated a restaurant and he was an auto mechanic for the Ford Garage before moving back to Hopkins where they farmed before moving to town. She also was a practical nurse for an elderly couple in Hopkins before retiring.

Mrs. Carmichael was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hopkins. She was a former member of the Golden Rule Rebekah Lodge Social Club, Art Club, the Merry Ridge Social Club, and Prairie Star Club all of Hopkins.

Mrs. Carmichael also was preceded in death by her parents, Robert H. and Belle M. Davison, two sisters, Jennie Davison and Pearle Atha, and two brothers, Charley and Harvey Davison.

Surviving Mrs. Carmichael are three children: a daughter Anna B. Bergren of Boone Iowa; two sons, Bob J. Carmichael, St. Joseph, MO and Marvin I. Carmichael, Englewood, CO, two brothers, Harlan Davison, Hopkins MO and Archie Davison, Bedford Iowa, three grandchildren: Randal Carmichael, Denver, CO, Norena Caniglia, Council Bluffs, IA, and Kyle Rowe, Mankato, MI, and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sat., Aug. 10, 1996 in the Swanson-Price Funeral Chapel, Hopkins. Rev. David Kaster officiated. Burial was in the Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins.

Memorials may be made to the Hopkins Baptist Church or to the Hopkins Community Club.
