GRANT B. CARTER

Services for Grant B. Carter, 49, of 205 E. 5th St., will be held at the Benz Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Carter died in Seattle Thursday while visiting a sister, Mrs. Nellie Banker. Officiating will be the Rev. Clarence Adams. Pallbearers will be C. H. Skaro, Henry Bjorge, Chester Erickson, Gardner Thompson, Clarence J. Muchow and George Ryan. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the heart fund or Mental Health Center. Body is lying in state at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eric Banfield

THORP — Services for Mrs. Eric (Ida Mae) Banfield, 73, Thorp, who died at 1 a.m. Thursday in Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Maurina Funeral Home, Owen.

The Rev. Margaret Shepherd of United Church of Christ, Owen, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

The former Ida Mae Bailey was born Aug. 10, 1910 in Flandreau, S.D., to Mr. and Mrs. William (Phoebe Wilkes) Bailey. She was married to Grant B. Carter in 1930; he died Dec. 8, 1955. She and Eric Banfield were married in 1972. He died Oct. 10, 1981. She had managed the Cardinal Court Motel in Thorp the past four years.

A member of First Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Banfield is survived by two daughters, Sheila Carter of Lynnwood, Wash. and Mrs. Ed (Anita) Caldwell of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Harry (Laurie) Bruckschlager of Withee and Mrs. Richard (Erica) Anderson of Melford, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by a great-grandchild and a sister.
