Cole-Davis Vows Said in Harlingen

KINGSVILLE (Sp)—Miss Barbara Sue Davis and Jack Stuart Cole exchanged wedding vows Saturday evening at the First Baptist Church in Harlingen.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grady E. Davis of Harlingen, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Cole of Kingsville.

Dr. Thomas M. Bennett, professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at Fort Worth, officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Imported Organdy

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress of white eyelet embroidered imported organdy accented with pearls and crystal beads on the neckline and bodice. A skirt of five tiers, ending in a chapel train, extended from a bodice with an empire waistline.

Her cap, entirety beaded, held her fingertip veil of silk illusion.

She carried a bouquet of baby orchids and lily of the valley centered with two white orchids.

Matron of Honor

Mrs. H. Edward Foelker of Corpus Christi was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jack Fryer of Mission, Miss Shirley Harris of Harlingen, cousins of the bride, Miss Rosemary Pool of Muleshoe, and Miss Judy Pool of Levelland.

Carolyn Gossett, a niece of the groom, and Linda Gayle Leeper of Houston, a cousin of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. Flower girl was Mary Kathryn Bowman.

Attendants in Pink

The bridesmaids wore waltz length dresses of pink eyelet embroidered organdy with pink satin shoes.

Their headbands and waistbands were of contrasting pink velvet. Each carried a basket of pink Ester Reed daisies.

The matron of honor wore a deeper shade of pink dress and carried a basket of deeper shade Ester Reed daisies.

Best Man

The groom was attended by Carl H. Cole, Jr., of Little Rock, Ark., as best man.

Andrew Morris Cook of Austin, James A. Knos and Lt. James Clarence Tubbs of Dallas, Lt. Logan Henry Stellenwerck of Fort Hood, Crales Landrum of Houston, Ronald William Davis of Harlingen and Glen Alan Gossett were groomsmen.

Lloyd Stuart Cole of Little Rock was ring bearer, and candlelighters were Douglas Cole and Kenneth Cole of Salt Lake City.

Reception Held

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church. A four tiered wedding cake was served from a table centered with an arrangement of pink roses. Miss Kaye Lake and Miss Mavis Knapp were at the bride's book.

After a wedding trip to Colorado Springs, Colo., they will make their home in Dallas.

To Teach in Dallas

The bride was graduated from Texas A&I College where she was twice a Lantana Lady in the spring coronations. She also was graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and will teach in the Dallas public schools this fall.

The groom was graduated from Texas A&I College and the Southwestern Methodist University School of Law where he was president of the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity, a member of the Cycen Fjolder, and the Derdish Club in Dallas where he is now assistant district attorney.

COLE, JACK STUART, Went to be with his Savior May 15, 2006. Born October 1, 1929, in Kingsville, Texas, the last of five children born to the late Carl and Ruby Cole. An honor student, Jack graduated from Texas A&M at Kingsville and Southern Methodist University School of Law. At SMU, he was Chief Justice of the Student Court and was on the Executive Council of the Student Bar Association. Jack was elected to both Barristers and Cycen Fjodr, honorary societies, and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. He served as an assistant district attorney under Henry Wade and was in private practice in Dallas for 45 years. A member of First Baptist Church, Jack served as a deacon for many years. Survived by wife of 49 years, Barbara Davis Cole and her mother, Dee Davis; children Mark Austin Cole, Allison Cole Hicks and husband Tal, Stuart Rogers Cole and wife Shauna, Jennifer Cole Casola and husband Sal; grandchildren Brooke and Talmadge Hicks IV, James Stuart Cole, Luke, Landon, and Cooper Casola, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2:00 P.M. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel.
