Newcastle, Ind., Dec. 9.—Lieutenant Eugene Thompson of the coast artillery, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Thompson of this city, was married to Miss Catherine Cole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Cole, at the home of the bride's parents, Indianapolis, last night. Lieutenant and Mrs. Thompson left for New York City this morning, where the bride will remain until her husband sails for France. Lieutenant Thompson secured his commission at the training camp at Fort Monroe.

FRANCIS E. THOMPSON, 85, of 3307 E. Gum, died at 5:25 a.m. today at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Mr. Thompson retired in 1957 from Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company after 41 years service with the company. A graduate of Purdue University, he joined Sigeco as head of the steam heating department. He was named purchasing agent in 1922 and headed the steam heating purchasing departments for 26 years. Sigeco phased out its steam heating department in 1948 and Mr. Thompson remained purchasing agent until his retirement.
A veteran of World war I, he received a battlefield promotion to first lieutenant for bravery under fire.
Surviving are his wife, Katheryn; daughters, Mrs. Robert Sullivan of Bloomington, Ind., and Miss Katheryn Thompson of Evansville; and two grandchildren.
The family said friends, if they wish, may make memorial contributions to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
Arrangements are pending at Greek-Shears Mortuary.

Katheryn Thompson, 98, of Evansville, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Braun's Nursing Center.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Katheryn C. Thompson of Evansville and Eugenie Sullivan of Bloomington, Ind.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Ziemer Funeral Home — East Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderburgh County Humane Society of First Presbyterian Church.
