James R. Cole, 69 years old, proprietor of the Cole Prescription Laboratories, 501 Indiana avenue, died last night in his home, 707 East Twenty-second street, after an illness of three weeks.
Mr. Cole was born in Stockwell, and was a member of the Austin Masonic Lodge of Tipton. He had lived in Indianapolis fifty years and operated the Cole Laboratories with his son, Edwin H. Cole. Mr. Cole formerly operated a drug store in Tipton, and began his career with the Ward Brothers Wholesale house fifty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Cole celebrated their forty-seventh wedding anniversary Feb. 6.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Victoria S. Cole of Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Cole Reed of Toledo, O.; Mrs. Kathryn Thompson of Evansville, and Miss Alice Cole of Indianapolis; two sons, Edwin H. Cole of Indianapolis, and James M. Cole of Modesto, Cal., and a sister, Mrs. Alice McShane of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Shirley Bothers Central chapel, 916 North Illinois street. Burial arrangements have not been completed.

Mrs. Victoria Cole, widow of the late James R. Cole, former Indianapolis druggist, died yesterday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Merritt W. Reed, in Collinsville, Ill., according to work received here.
Mrs. Cole was born near Lafayette, Sept. 12, 1871, the daughter of Hiram Dutton Hall and Christina Westlake Hall. She had been a resident of Indianapolis 42 years before going to Collinsville eight years ago. She was a member of the Collinsville Methodist Church. Mr. Cole formerly had owned and operated the Cole Prescription Laboratory, 551 Indiana Avenue.
Survivors besides Mrs. Reed include two other daughters, Miss Alice Cole of Indianapolis and Mrs. F. E. Thompson of Evansville, and a son, Edwin H. Cole of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Schroettel Mortuary in Collinsville.
