Tacoma Man Wed In Rites At Seattle

In Trinity Episcopal Church in Seattle, Frances E. Quinn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cummings was married to Wayne E. Sloyer of Oakland, Calif., son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Sloyer of Tacoma.

The bride wore a ballerina-length pale-pink nylon chiffon dress and a coronet of orange blossoms with a short pale pink illusion veil. She carried a white prayer book with a spray of white orchids and bouvardia on pink ribbon.

Matron of honor for her sister was Mrs. Glidden of Walnut Creek, Calif., who wore a pale blue princess style dress and carried white spring flowers.

The two bridesmaids, Miss Joan Leslie of Tacoma, cousin of the bridegroom, and Mrs. R. Glen Axelson of Oakland, Calif. also were in pale blue and carried pink flowers.

Flower girls were Susan Brown and Jean Leslie of Tacoma, who wore short pale blue dotted nylon frocks and carried baskets of spring flowers.

Arthur W. Sloyer Jr. served as best man for his brother and the ushers were Edward Glidden, Dr. Keith Timberlake, Robert Feller and Arthur Anderson.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Cummings chose a beige lace gown and a deep pink hat. Mrs. Sloyer wore an aqua lace dress and white accessories.

The newly wed couple will honeymoon in Carmel, Calif. and make their home in San Francisco. The bride attended the University of Washington and graduated from the University of California. She is a member of Lambda Rho and Delta Epsilon art honoraries. The bridegroom is a graduate of the University of Washington and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Pouring and assisting at the reception which followed in the church parish hall, were Mesdames Perry Strand of Oakland, Calif. Alfred Green of Wenatchee, Grant Graber of Wapato and Joseph Green.

WAYNE SLOYER

Wayne Edward Sloyer, a two year Fallbrook resident, died Aug. 2 at his home. He was 65.

Mr. Sloyer was born November 22, 1923 in Tacoma, Wash. He lived in Sunnyvale, Ca. for 24 years before moving to Fallbrook after his retirement from the IBM Corporation. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and returned to graduate from the University of Washington and to serve in the Naval Reserve. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, a lifetime member of the Tacoma Elks and a member of the Clover Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite at Tacoma, Wash.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, France E. Sloyer; sons, David Wayne of San Diego, Charles Arthur of San Jose; Daughter, Llynn Frances Mobley of Orange; mother, Judith L. Sloyer of Fallbrook, and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Aug. 7 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Fallbrook.

FALLBROOK — Frances Ellen Sloyer, 71, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, in Fallbrook of a stroke.

Born July 2, 1925, in Seattle, she lived in Fallbrook for 10 years. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Fallbrook and a member, past president and board member of Fallbrook Art Association.

Mrs. Sloyer was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sloyer in 1989. She is survived by her sons, David Sloyer of San Diego and Charles Sloyer of San Jose; daughter Lynn Mobley of North Tustin; sister Laura Glidden of Reno, Nev.; and grandchildren Erin Mobley, Lane Mobley, Christina Sloyer and Sara Sloyer.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Fallbrook with the Rev. Don Kroeger officiating.
