A SUDDEN SUMMONS.

George A. Dunmire Thrown From a Buggy and Instantly Killed.

The citizens of New Philadelphia were terribly shocked and pained last Sunday afternoon, at the announcement that George A. Dunmire of this place, had been thrown from a buggy and instantly killed. At first our people were loth to believe the report, but it proved to be only too true. About half past one o'clock Sunday afternoon, Mr. Dunmire, accompanied by Charlie Weber, of this place, started to drive to a point about a mile east of town. In going down a road that is steep and rough, which leads through the garden of T. W. Fribley, the horse frightened just as the bottom of the hill was reached, turned suddenly to the right, upsetting the buggy. Weber saw the approaching danger in time to jump out, and escaped with a few slight bruises. Dunmire was driving and was thrown to the ground striking on his left temple, and was instantly killed, death resulting from concussion of the brain. The deceased was born and reared in Mansfield, Ohio, and was thirty-three years of age. About six years since he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Shriver of this city, youngest daughter of the late Adam Shriver. Mr. and Mrs. Dunmire resided for several years in Mansfield, afterwards lived in Columbus, Ohio, and last spring took up their residence in New Philadelphia. Mr. Dunmire begun the manufacture of shirts, collars and cuffs in this city, and was building up a profitable business. He was a competent business man, a pleasant, agreeable gentleman and a kind, devoted husband. To the widow and little six months' old son who are left in such great sorrow, the tenderest sympathy of many friends is extended to them. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at three o'clock, from the home of Mrs. Dunmire's mother, Mrs. Shriver, on East High street. The services were conducted by Rev. J. B. Rust. Interment in the East Fair street cemetery.
