Marilyn A. Russo, age 73, who resided at 1619 Pheasant Run, Richmond, Ind., died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Reid Hospital.

She was born in Richmond, Ind., Dec. 7, 1929, to Lyle and Eileen Ervin and had lived most of her life in Anderson, Ind., returning to Richmond in 1989.

After graduating in 1947 from Richmond High School, she graduated with a BS degree in 1954 from Indiana University and received her master of arts degree from Ball State University in 1960. In 1978 she received a specialist degree in education from Ball State University. Marilyn's first teaching position was in Lynchburg, Va. She also taught at Markelsville, Ind. She was dean of students at East Side Middle School in Anderson, Ind., where she also was a teacher and athletic director. She was the registrar at Southside Junior High School and had served the Anderson school system for 30 years as a teacher and counselor, retiring in 1989 as the assistant principal at Madison Heights High School.

Marilyn served two terms on the Richmond Community School Board and had served as its president last year. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Active in the arts in the community, she had been president of Whitewater Opera Company. She was a member of Richmond Noon Kiwanis Club and Forest Hills Country Club where she golfed. She was also an avid bridge player, a bowler and was an animal lover.

Survivors include her husband, Peter J. Russo, to whom she was married Sept. 5, 1953 one sister, Sharon Schueman, Lafayette, Ind., and one sister-in-law, Midge Ervin, Indianapolis, Ind. nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eugene Ervin.

Funeral services for Marilyn A. Russo will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, Ind., with Father Carlton Kelley celebrating assisted by the Deacon Barry MacDowell. Tom Raper will deliver the eulogy. This service will be a Eucharist of the Resurrection. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at the funeral home.

Richmond, Ind. - Peter J. Russo, age 73, Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, April 24, 2003.

Born in Pennsylvania, April 2, 1930, to Joseph and Rose Sacco Russo, he had lived most of his life in Anderson before moving to Richmond in 1989. Pete was a 1949 graduate of Ambridge High School in Pennsylvania and received a football scholarship to Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind., where he graduated in 1956. He was offered a professional contract with the Baltimore Colts football team after his participation in a North-South College All Star game. He was a retired teacher and football coach at Anderson High School, Anderson, Ind., and was a member of Indiana University "I" Men's Association, Indiana University Alumni Association, Wayne County Historical Society, Red Devil Pride and Forest Hills Country Club.

Survivors include two sisters, Mafalda Puckett, Freedom, Pa., and Rose Marie Nolte, North Versailles, Pa. one brother, Dominic Russo, Baden, Pa. nieces and nephews two sisters-in-law, Sharon Schueman, Lafayette, Ind., and Midge Ervin, Indianapolis, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn A. Ervin Russo, to whom he was married Sept. 5, 1953, and who died Dec. 30, 2002.

A memorial service for Peter J. Russo will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2003, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, Ind. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. There will be no public calling.
