James Firebaugh

DAYTON — James Rogers Firebaugh Sr., 76, of 550 Mill St., Dayton died early Thursday at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

He had been ill three weeks.

Mr. Firebaugh was born April 20, 1900 near Harrisonburg and was the son of the late Robert and Lelia Rogers Firebaugh. He moved to Georgia in 1923 and returned to Dayton in 1970.

He was a member and past deacon of the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church.

In 1923, he married the former Williette Miller, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Mrs. Jacqueline F. Jones of Anchorage, Alaska and James Rogers Firebaugh Jr. of Hampton; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Kunkle of Staunton and Mrs. Lula Kaylor of Pleasant Valley, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Manson Estes. Burial will be in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.

The body is at the W. L. Rosenberger Funeral Home in Bridgewater, where friends may call. The family will receive friends at the Firebaugh home in Dayton.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Bridgewater Rescue Squad.

Williette W. Firebaugh

Williette Weaver Firebaugh, 98, Dayton, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Bridgewater Home.

Mrs. Firebaugh was born Aug. 2, 1902, at Beaver Creek, and was the daughter of the late Martin Baker and Elizabeth Etta Weaver Miller.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.

On June 3, 1923, she married James Rogers Firebaugh Sr., who died July 22, 1976.

Mrs. Firebaugh is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Jones, Anchorage, Alaska; a son, James Rogers Firebaugh Jr., McDonough, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dr. John F. Sloop and the Rev. Glenn E. Bollinger will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. Friday at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, 5651 Beaver Creek Road, Bridgewater, Va., 22812, or a charity of choice.
