Morris Groverman Takes Pretty Logansport Girl as Bride

There is no wedding more lovely than one performed at home especially if it is as beautifully planned as that of Morris Groverman, Jr., who used to reside in Hammond, and Miss Eliza Jane Hawkins, one of Logansport's most attractive girls, who were married on Saturday afternoon, August 31. The service was read at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson L. Hawkins of 1613 Broadway in Logansport, by the Reverend W. E. Hoffenbacher of the Logansport Episcopal church.

About seventy-five guests were present to see the ceremony which was performed beneath an arch of palms, flanked by large baskets of asters and gladioli and lighted by the soft glow from profuse candles.

Just before the time for the wedding Hollis Johnston nicely sang the popular wedding numbers, "I Love You Truly" and "At Dawning," preceding the notes of the often used wedding march, played by Juanita Berryman.

The bride's two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Pollard of Sheldon, Illinois, and Corina Harte Hawkins of Logansport, were her pretty attendants. To accent a blue and yellow color scheme the bride's sisters wore long frocks of Princess design fashioned of linen. Mrs. Pollard was in blue carrying pink asters tied with a bow to match her frock and Miss Hawkins wore the maize shade of linen. Her flowers, also tied to correspond with her dress, were lavender asters.

A tiny blond, Miss Hawkins was a pretty bride. Hers was a white chiffon gown made on the ever-favorite long Princess lines and boasting a short train. A V-neck line was the effect at the back of the frock while the front was slightly shirred at the shoulders and was gathered across the front. The bride wore her hair in a braid around her head with flowers entwined. Johanna Hill roses fashioned in a bridal bouquet was the type chosen by Miss Hawkins to correspond with her sort of frock. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

William Short of Logansport was Mr. Groverman's best man. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Groverman of Newark, N. J., who drove to Indiana for the wedding.

RECEPTION AFTER WEDDING

After the ceremony the guests remained for an informal reception when they were greeted by the bride and groom and their party.

For the wedding the bride's mother, Mrs. J. L. Hawkins, wore a blue chiffon frock and a corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Groverman greeted the guests in a figured chiffon and wore a corsage fashioned of gardenias.

The guests were served attractively appointed refreshments emphasizing the bridal note before Mr. Groverman and his bride left by motor for a trip through the East. A black crepe suit with which she wore a white tunic blouse and red and black accessories made the bride modish for her Eastern jaunt.

At 402 South Main street in Monticello, where the groom is with the Northern Indiana Public Service company, the Grovermans will be at home to their friends after their honeymoon.

Mrs. Groverman is a graduate of the University City High school at University City, Missouri. She later took kindergarten training at the Wilson Kindergarten and Primary school in St. Louis. For several years Mrs. Groverman conducted her own private kindergarten. In Logansport where she had long been a favorite, the bride is a member of Alpha Xi chapter of Psi Iota Xi. Mr. Groverman came to Hammond from the East to be with the Public Service company after his graduation from the University of Michigan. Several months age he was transferred to Monticello. Mr. Groverman is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, Theta Theta chapter. During his residence here he was well known socially as well as in a business way.
