Children of ELIZABETH JAMES and JAMES COGSWELL HALL:
Williamsport Warren Republican, October 29, 18967559
This gentleman is a resident of Steuben township, and was nominated last February by the Republicans for the responsible position of Commissioner in the First Commissioner's's district, without opposition. Mr. Hall was born in this county June 4, 1837, and is now in the 60 year of his age. Early in life he learned the trade of blacksmith, but has made farming his calling nearly all his life. He is the son of Dr. Daniel D. Hall, who in the early days of the county's history had an extensive practice throughout the county, and was well known in the western and middle portions of the county. Mr. Hall's father was the brother of the late Rev. Colbrath Hall who was the pioneer Methodist preacher of Warren county. Eight years ago Mr. Hall made the race for trustee of Steuben township, but was defeated in the election by Cassius M. Cronkhite, the Democratic nominee. He has never held an office in the county. He was born a Republican and has always voted the Republican ticket without scratch or blemish. His first vote for President was cast for Abraham Lincoln in 1860. Mr. Hall is a Christian gentleman and has been a strict and consistent member of the Christan church for thirty-five years. Mr. Hall is well qualified for the duties of the office of County Commissioner and would make a pains-taking and judicious official, having always in view the interests of the taxpayers and the good name of our county.
