In a quiet wedding at her home on Broadway, Miss Phyliss Adell Leiter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Leiter, became the bride of Lieutenant Marion G. Heatwole, USNR, son of Mrs. R. E. Heatwole, Ravenwood Heights, at nine thirty this morning with the Rev. Wilson P. Ard reading the single ring ceremony in the presence of the immediate families.
The vows were exchanged before the fireplace, banked with white gladiolas and palms with lighted tapers on the mantelpiece.
The bride-elect, attired in a white street length eyelet-pique dress with white accessories, was given away by her father. She carried a bouquet of white gardenias and blue forget-me-nots centered with a white orchid.
Her mother chose a pale aqua tailored gown with black accessories and a shoulder corsage of gardenias and yellow roses while Mrs. Heatwole wore pale green with black and a contrasting corsage of pink roses and gardenias.
The bridegroom was in Navy whites.
Following the ceremony, a breakfast for the guests was held in the Maryland room at the Hotel Alexander.
The wedding party returned to the Leiter home where the couple cut their cake, after which they left for Mt. Vernon, Pa., where they will make their home.
For traveling, Mrs. Heatwole wore navy blue crepe with a bateau neck and vari-colored peplum front. Her topcoat was aqua and her accessories navy.
The bride graduated from Hagerstown High school in 1938 and the Hagerstown Business College in 1939.
Lieut. Heatwole graduated from the High School here in 1937 and from Washington and Lee University in 1941. Commissioned in the Navy in March, 1942, he was put on active duty in July and served the following year in the Pacific theatre. At the present time, the officer is stationed in Pittsburgh at the Navy's Material Redistribution Depot, there.

Mrs. Phyllis Leiter Heatwole, a long time resident of Upper St. Clair, PA, died at her residence at Amelia Island, Florida, May 21, 1993 after a brief illness. Mrs. Heatwole has been a resident of Nassau County, FL for the past 15 years, was a Presbyterian by faith and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her husband Marion Heatwole, Amelia Island; three sons, Mark Heatwole, Lake Forest, Il, Erik L. Chagrin Falls, Iowa, Kirk A. Heatwole, Hackensack, NJ; one brother Lewis M. Heatwole, [sic] Pasadena CA and seven grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 25 from the chapel at the Amelia Island Plantation. MARION GROVE, 80, former General Counsel of the United States Steel Corporation, died Sunday at his home on Amelia Island, Florida. Having had a heart attack and pneumonia in July, he had recovered fully to celebrate his eightieth birthday with family and friends, and returned to his home where he suffered a fatal heart attack. Born in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia on September 1, 1919, Mr. Heatwole was President of his High School Senior Class in Hagerstown, Maryland and went on to win a scholarship at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1941 and Order of the Coif from Law School in 1946. During World War II he served for three years as a Naval Supply officer with the 82nd Seabees in the Pacific theater concluding his tour of duty with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Returning from the war and naval business training at Harvard University Mr. Heatwole was married in Hagerstown, Maryland to Phyllis Adell Leiter on May 1, 1945. They made their home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where Mr. Heatwole was hired as an attorney with the law department of the then Carnegie-Illinois Steel Company, a career he pursued for forty years. He was promoted through the law department of United States Steel Corporation to the office of General Counsel in 1971, a title he held until his retirement in 1984, following his successful negotiation of the acquisition of Marathan Oil Company, one of the largest corporate combinations in history which today is known as USX. Mr. Heatwole was a founding member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania and also the Amelia Island Chapel on Amelia Island, Florida. He was a member of the Association of General Counsel, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Allegheny Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the Duquesne Club, the Okmount, Laurel Valley and Upper St. Clair Country Club of Pittsburgh and Ocean Club of Amelia Island. He is survived by his three sons: Mark Marion Heatwole of Lake Forest, Illinois, Eric Leiter Heatwole of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Kirk Andrew Heatwole of Hackensack, New Jersey; and nine granddaughters: Mary Phyllis Heatwole at Boston College Law School, Elizabeth Collier Heatwole at Washington & lee University, Anna Bell Heatwole of Lake Forest, Maran Grove, Kalyn Leigh, Drew Rebeca and Camryn Grace Heatwole of Chagrin Falls, and Kathryn Marion and Lauren Letha Heatwole of Hackensack, New Jersey. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 9, 1999 at 5:30 pm at the Amelia Island Plantation Chapel, with Pastor John Harland officiating and the United States Navy providing military honors.
