The marriage of Miss Ruby Leavell, daughter of William Leavell, and Donald Hewitt, son of the late Prof. Charles Hewitt, for many years superintendent of the Knightstown public schools, both of this city, was solemnized Thursday afternoon at 8 o'clock at the parsonage of the United Brethren church, in New Castle, by the pastor, Rev. A. Bash Arford. Both are high respected young people and enjoy the esteem of many friends in Knightstown. Mr. Hewitt is an electrician and after a short visit with relatives and their many friends here they will go to Connersville, where he is employed.

Knightstown — The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hewitt was observed Sunday with a dinner given by their children at the Coffee Pot Restaurant.
Those present with the honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. William Hewitt, Miss Beth Sellinger and David Isaac of Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Coleman and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Crawford and family of Connersville and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Leavelle. Afternoon callers at the Hewitt home were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Graag of Connersville,. Harold Jeffery and Junior Adams.

Mrs. Ruby Lucille (Dot) Hewitt, 87, 138 S. Madison St., Knightstown, died Thursday morning at her home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Hewitt was born in Raysville, but was a Knightstown resident the rest of her life. She was a member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church, honorary member of the Shakespeare Club, and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. During World War II she was active in the Henry County Red Cross and served as nurses aide at Henry County Memorial Hospital following the war. She and her husband were married Feb. 20. 1912, and had been married 66 years.
Survivors include her husband, Donald, twin daughters, Barbara Hewitt of Anderson and Mrs. Al (Betty) Crawford of Liberty; one son, William of Anderson, one brother, Carroll Leavelle of Knightstown; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday in Butcher Funeral Home with Rev. Robert T. Berkebile officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery.

He was a electrician all of his life, beginning as a lineman for Knightstown Utility and later becoming superintendent of the Knightstown Water and Light Department. After his retirement, he and his wife opened the former Hewitt Appliance Shop.
He is survived by two daughters, Miss Barbara Hewitt, Anderson, and Mrs. Al (Betty) Crawford, Liberty; one son, William Hewitt, Anderson; one brother-in-law, Carroll Leaville, Knightstown; eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lucile in 1979.
