Cincinnati Daily Gazette, July 14, 18794405
On the 29th of May the School Trustees of Knightstown Academy held a meeting and elected M. Seiler, of Auburn, Ind., as Superintendent of the schools, in place of Prof. Charles Hewitt, who had held the position satisfactorily for nine years past, and whose qualifications are beyond question of cavil. The matter was kept very quiet until the term of office of one of the Trustees expired, and his successor was chosen, when it leaked out. The citizens were indignant over the matter, and got up a petition signed by about 225 names, requesting the Trustees to resign. The petition was presented in due form, but was never acted upon or returned, Thus the matter stands.
