On Tuesday afternoon, june 1, 1926, Miss Valma Pearl Wallace, daughter of J. W. Wallace and Chester Leland Hickey, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hickey of near Graf, were married in Tecumseh, the ceremony being performed at the Methodist parsonage, by Rev. Joseph Stepford, pastor of the church. Both are popular young people and have a host of friends, who wish them every success in life. Following the ceremony, the young people were give a reception at the home of the bride's father, where a delightful time was spent. Mr. and Mrs. Hickey have made no definite plans as to the future, but their friends hope they will locate in this vicinity.

Mrs. Chester (Valma Pearl) Hickey died at her home in Elk Creek at 9:20 o'clock Friday evening, June 2, 1961. She had been in failing health for about a year, and was bedfast most of the time for the last two and one-half months prior to her death from cancer. Her age was 52 years, one month and 23 days.
Born on a farm near Graf April 9, 1909, Mrs. Hickey was a daughter of J. W. and Eva (Hodges) Wallace. She always lived in this part of the state. She spent some time near Graf, and attended the Spring Creek school. She also lived at Tecumseh and Elk Creek.
Her marriage to Mr. Hickey at Tecumseh was an event of June 1, 1926. Two sons and two daughters were born to them.
She became a member of the Methodist church at Graf, and later transferred her membership to the Elk Creek Methodist church. She was a member of the Methodist W.S.C.S., the American Legion Auxiliary and of Music Mothers Club of Elk Creek. She was affiliated with the Helping Hand Society of Crab Orchard.
Surviving Mrs. Hickey are her husband; four children, Ralph Hickey of El Monte, Calif.., Mrs. Max (Mary Ann) Akers of York, and Everette Hickey and Patricia Hickey, at home; two brothers, Roy Wallace of Omaha and Earl Wallace of Nebraska City; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Bucy of Helen, Mont., Mrs. Blanche Gravatt of Dumont, Minn., Mrs. Esther Ackerson of Seattle, Wash., and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Elk Creek Methodist church, Rev. LeRoy Leland of Table Rock and Rev. Wilfred N. Wallis of Pawnee City officiated. Pallbearers were Roy Hickey, Nip Hickey, Keith Parrish, Jim Parrish, Don Parrish and Carol Parrish. Burial was in the Spring Creek cemetery, north of Elk Creek.

Wallace of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Hickey of Louisville, Evon Hickey, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Hickey and Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Hickey, all of Union, Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Anderson, Mrs. Delbert Carman and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Miller of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth R.
